Principal’s Introduction/Report -Ms.Davidson comes to us from Humbercrest P.S. , brings a lot of experience working with special needs and with all age groups. She will be sending out weekly emails on Fridays with reminders and monthly emails with more in depth topics.
Work Action -Council can continue to meet, without teachers, but with some limitations. Council events cannot include teachers or take place at school unless we acquire a permit for the space. Several activities will have to be postponed until next year (e.g. movie night, book swap, guest speakers). We can proceed with activities/events that were already planned, i.e. STEM night, parent social and Fun Fair. -PEER leaders will attend the April council meeting to talk about well-being projects, the Student Senate and other activities.
This year’s STEM night will be smaller, and more concentrated. It will also take place in the gymnasium and the cafeteria using permits to allow the event to happen. It will be smaller and more concentrated. Lots of exciting, interactive activities with an Earth theme to celebrate Earth Month. The event requires 32 volunteers as teachers cannot be present.
Reminder that this is not a drop-off event, parents must accompany students.
Library Learning Commons
$13, 780 has been raised so far.
Space planning and design are underway using funds that have been raised to date.
We are in the process of getting rid of old shelving, drapes and putting in new floor, new paint and new drapes.
The meeting had lots of brainstorming the final fundraising push before year’s end. We are considering using sponsorship and motivational rewards to reach the $26k shortfall.
A sponsorship meeting with the Principal and Vice Principal will take place on Tuesday March 3rd to discuss the right way to pursue sponsorship, making sure that it will align with the school values. We will ensure that Fundraising is done in a tasteful manner. Thoughts/ideas on the matter are welcome for discussion. Please contact Parent Council at annettestps@gmail.com
